Soniquete's sound arises from their adventurous handling of musical material. The basic elements are mainly their own compositions or are lent from composers such as Claude Debussy or John Dowland. Through working together with these building blocks, the larger forms finally emerge.
Whilst producing “Tadpole's Universe of Space Anomalia”, it was our goal to make an album on which we sound different to our live playing. Using our compositions and arrangements as the starting point, we then employed extensive audio engineering to create something new. We consciously chose an unconventional path for a Jazz group, playing and recording our music with various group combinations and instrumentations in the studio.
