In a musical landscape saturated with algorithms and formulaic singles, Sqyp, led by Cyprien Morel, takes a welcome risk: offering an album meant to be listened to like a collection of poetry - straight through, without seeking an immediate conclusion. With Chance or Fate?, the group delivers an ambitious, kaleidoscopic work at the crossroads of jazz, progressive rock, and art-pop.

No verses or choruses here, but a sequence of musical narrative threads - subtly constructed, sometimes destabilizing in their progression, yet always coherent. Each track resembles a chapter from the same inner logbook, where fables and landscapes have been recorded, moments of contemplation, destruction, or prayer.

The album also stands out through the richness of its collaborations: musicians such as Justine Tornay (J.NUNN), Chloé Marsigny, Lucie Göckel, as well as trumpeter Shems Bendali, bring new colors and singular voices, broadening the orchestration and reinforcing the project’s plural dimension.

Chance or Fate ? is accompanied by a visual universe that extends the musical creative process and heightens its dreamlike, enchanting qualities. The music video Something about to Happen, drawn by Yvan Vindret and animated by Cyprien Morel, unfolds a fable of silhouettes and static sets - both minimalistic and deeply moving in its softness.
Other tracks are adorned with fractals created by Cyprien Morel, images of perpetual renewal, contrasts, and shifting balances that run through the music.
